The School of Medicine at UC Denver began offering a Ph.D. in Computational Bioscience in 2001. A formal program was created in 2004 when the school’s Academic Enrichment Fund contributed $1.5 million to launch the program. Students in the program come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds including physicians, biologists, computer scientists and engineers. Graduates leave the program with the expertise to join faculty programs in bioinformatics, medicine or computer science, or to assume high–level research positions in government or industry. More information about the School of Medicine at UC Denver’s Computational Bioscience Program is available at http://compbio.uchsc.edu, and from Kathy Thomas, Administrative Coordinator, at Kathy.R.Thomas@uchsc.edu .
